Use the 3/16” hex key to tighten screws to snug plus 1/4 turn; do not overtighten. Ensure you are using the 1/2” length screws (longer bolts can damage Starlink).
4. Plug the Starlink cable into the port on the bottom of the Starlink. Do not make sharp turns with your cable, use a minimum bend radius of 50 mm (2″).

1. To get started, find a clear view of the sky

Your Starlink needs a clear view of the sky so it can stay connected with satellites as they move overhead. Objects that obstruct the connection between your Starlink and the satellite, such as a tree branch, pole, or roof, will cause service interruptions. To find a location with a clear view of the sky take the following steps:

a. Download the Starlink app.

b. Use the “Check for Obstructions” tool to find an install location that will deliver the best service.

c. For best results, Starlink should be installed as close to vertical as possible.

If you cannot not find a clear field of view from the ground level, consider installing in an elevated location, like a roof, pole, or wall. Additional mounts and accessories are available for purchase on the Starlink Shop.

2. Install and Power on Starlink

a. Plug in Starlink and place into the base (or into your selected mount)

b. Starlink will automatically level itself to search for satellites overhead. Do NOT attempt to manually adjust your Starlink.

c. After a few minutes, Starlink will make an initial connection to the Starlink constellation and tilt to the optimum angle for satellite coverage (slightly north or south based on your location in the northern or southern hemisphere).

3. Getting Connected

a. On your device, find and connect to the STARLINK network in your WiFi settings

b. To secure your Starlink WiFi network, use the Starlink App to rename your Starlink WiFi network and create a WiFi password. Open the Starlink App > Settings > Router > enter desired WiFi network name and password > Save.

• This step is optional, but we recommend securing your WiFi network.

c. You are now connected! Open the Starlink App to customize additional settings, check your connection, and more.

With simple setup guided through the Starlink app and automatic satellite alignment, the Performance Gen 3 Kit brings dependable internet to homes, businesses, and off-grid environments across Kenya and beyond.

1. Download the Starlink App

Download the Starlink App and scan the QR code to step through the install process

2. Plug in Cables and Connect to Power

Align the Performance Connector end of the Starlink cable indicated by the red notch and plug into your Starlink by holding the end of the plug and firmly inserting into the dish. When the cable is properly inserted, it will audibly click into place.

Connect the other end of the Starlink cable to the power supply. Install either the AC (2A) or DC (2B) Power Cable into the power supply, depending on your power source, and plug into a power outlet. Ensure all cables are fully plugged in until the plug face is flush with the surface.

If needed, to remove the Starlink cable, rotate the collar counterclockwise and pull out to disconnect from your Starlink

3. Find Mounting Location and Align Starlink

Your Starlink needs a clear view of the sky so it can stay connected with satellites as they move overhead. Objects that obstruct the connection between your Starlink and the satellite, such as a tree branch, pole, or roof, will cause service interruptions. Use the obstruction tool in the App to ensure you have selected a suitable mounting location.

An alert on the App will show if you need to rotate Starlink to be properly aligned. Tap the alert to use the alignment tool.

Ensure to check for obstructions and your Starlink is properly aligned before permanently installing your Starlink.

4. Connect Starlink

If using a Starlink Router, connect the Router to the Advanced Power Supply using the cable provided in the router kit. Step through the Starlink install process on the Starlink App. You can utilize the Starlink App to view statistics, access terminal settings and contact support.

If using a third-party router, use the provided ethernet cable in the Performance Kit. After you have set up your 3rd party router and connected to Starlink with the WAN port, open the Starlink app. If the app says “Starlink unreachable”, create a static route in your router configuration settings.

Please refer to your router’s documentation for instructions on setting a static route.

• Network destination: 192.168.100.0
• Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
• Gateway: 192.168.100.1
• Interface: WAN

Note: These options may differ depending on your specific hardware and network configuration.

ADVANCED POWER SUPPLY UNIT

1. Remove Mount

Remove the power supply from the mount by pulling and twisting the quick release pins in either direction. The pins will lock in place to allow for easy removal of the power supply

2. Mark Pilot Holes

Select a mount location no more than 1.5 m (5ft) away from your power source.

Mark the location of the four holes on your power supply mount using a pen or pencil.

3. Drill the Pilot Holes

Drill the holes with a 8 mm (5/16 in) drill bit.

4. Install Anchors and Mount

Push anchors into holes until flush with the wall. Place the wall mount over the anchors and screw the mount into the wall until securely attached.

5. Plug In Cables and Install Power Supply

Plug in the Starlink, ethernet and AC or DC cables into the power supply by removing the waterproof plugs and ensure the cables are fully inserted. Slide the power supply into the mount, making sure both locking pins snaps into place.

Finish installation by routing the Ethernet cable to your router install location, connect to router and plug in router and power supply into your power source.

With a clear view of the sky, simple power connection, and guided setup via the Starlink mobile app, the Mini Kit automatically aligns to satellites and delivers reliable high-speed internet—ideal for homes, travel, and remote locations powered by mains, solar, or battery systems from Starlink.

1. Download the Starlink App

Download the Starlink App and scan the QR code located on the kit packaging to step through the install process.

2. Find A Clear View of Sky and Check for Obstructions

Your Starlink needs a clear view of the sky so it can stay connected with satellites as they move overhead. If you could not find a clear field of view from the ground level, consider installing in an elevated location, like a roof, pole, or wall. A Mini Pipe Adapter and Flat Mount comes included in the kit and additional mounts and accessories are available for purchase on the Starlink Shop.

3. Plug in Starlink

The Starlink Mini has an integrated WiFi router, meaning a separate router is not required to get online. Lift the kickstand and plug one end of the provided cable into your Starlink. Ensure the plug is fully inserted such that the plug face is flush with the surface.

Route the other end of the power cable to your power supply and plug it into a power outlet. 

​

4. Connect to WiFi

  a. On your device, find and connect to the STARLINK network in your WiFi settings

  b. To secure your Starlink WiFi network, use the Starlink App to rename your Starlink WiFi network and create a WiFi password. Open the Starlink App > Settings > Router > enter the desired WiFi network name and password > Save.

• This step is optional, but we recommend securing your WiFi network.

c. You are now connected! Open the Starlink App to customize additional settings, check your connection, and more.

5. Align Starlink Your Starlink Kit needs to face the right direction to connect to the maximum number of satellites for the strongest connection. Set up Starlink, ensuring the kit is tilted using the kickstand, or use the provided Mini Pipe Adapter and Flat Mount  if you have a pipe for installation. Click here for additional guidance on the alignment tool.  

Note: If your Starlink is aligned within 5°, the app will not alert you, indicating your Starlink is properly aligned.

Multiple Starlinks: If installing multiple Starlinks in one location, the minimum separation distance from the mount center to mount center should be 3 meters. A third-party router can be used to connect the Starlinks together into one network and provide load balancing, traffic shaping, failover, and other advanced capabilities.

Can’t Get Online?

1. Open the Starlink App to check for any alerts, outages, or obstructions.
2. Check the status light on the back of your Starlink.
   • Slow Blinking: Powered on.
   • No Light: No power to Starlink.
   • Fast Blinking: LED will blink quickly for 3 seconds while holding down the reset button, then LED will turn off as your Starlink reboots.

3. Make sure everything is securely and fully plugged in and there is no damage to hardware or cables.
4. Power cycle your Starlink by unplugging from power and then plugging back in.
5. Factory reset the Starlink by locating the reset icon on the back. Press down firmly until you hear or feel a click and hold for 3 seconds. The LED will blink quickly and shutoff when complete. Step through the install process to set up your Mini and get online.
6. Starlink Mini operates with an input voltage range of 12-48V. If you’re experiencing issues while using a 12V power supply or battery, try reducing the cable length or using a thicker gauge cable. You can also improve performance by supplying power at a higher voltage if possible. An easy solution is to use the Starlink Mini USB-C cable with a 100W USB-C power supply or the Starlink Mini Car Adapter.

Note: Your network name and password will be reset after completing factory reset. Look for ‘Starlink’ network during setup and configure your network to your preferred network name and password.

Using Mesh or Third-Party Router

If you want to set up a mesh system with a Starlink router, you can hardwire a router via an ethernet cable into the RJ45 port or create a wireless mesh network. You can also use your own router via the RJ45 port in bypass mode.

To hardwire a router to your Mini:

1. Remove the Starlink Plug.

​

2. Plug the Mini Starlink Cable available on starlink.com/shop or your own ethernet cable into the ethernet port. Connect the other end of your cable to a Starlink Gen 3 router or third-party hardware.

Note: Use the Mini Starlink Cable available on starlink.com/shop to protect your dish against water ingress. The Mini is no longer IP67 rated waterproof with a third-party RJ45 cable.

​

3. If you’re using a third-party router, use the Starlink App to put the integrated WiFi router into bypass mode. Manual factory reset is required to disable bypass mode.
