Boardtac Solutions is looking for a reliable part-time technician to support our gate automation projects on an on-call basis. We are specifically looking for someone with hands-on experience in the installation, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of automatic gate systems, particularly sliding gates.
The ideal candidate should be able to diagnose both electrical and mechanical faults quickly and provide practical solutions while maintaining professionalism when dealing with clients on-site.
The technician will be responsible for handling installation projects, service calls, routine maintenance, and emergency repairs for automatic gate systems.
This includes troubleshooting issues such as:
- Gates failing to open or close.
- Faulty control boards, motors, and power supply issues.
- Blown fuses and electrical faults.
- Remote control programming and battery replacement.
- Gate knocking or jerking during operation.
- Rail misalignment issues.
- Worn rollers, racks, stoppers, and mechanical components.
- Slow gate movement and motor calibration issues.
- Sensor and safety beam faults.
For example, the technician should be able to handle scenarios where a gate stops working due to a blown fuse, remotes fail because of dead batteries, or a gate develops knocking sounds due to rail alignment issues, while also recommending permanent solutions where needed.
Key Responsibilities.
- Install automatic sliding gate systems and related accessories.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty gate motors and automation systems.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
- Service gate systems to improve performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Install and configure remotes, sensors, safety beams, and control panels.
- Repair or replace damaged rollers, rails, racks, stoppers, and gate accessories.
- Conduct site assessments before installations or repairs.
- Prepare service reports after completing assignments.
- Respond to urgent maintenance and repair requests when needed.
Requirements.
- Proven experience in automatic gate installation and repairs.
- Strong understanding of sliding gate motors and automation systems.
- Ability to diagnose both electrical and mechanical issues.
- Experience working with gate tracks, rollers, welding repairs, and alignment adjustments is an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional communication skills when interacting with clients.
- Must be based in or around Nairobi for easier deployment.
- Own tools and transport is an added advantage.
Work Arrangement.
This is a part-time / on-call role suitable for a technician available for flexible assignments based on installations, maintenance work, and repair requests.
