Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structured Cabling & Office Network Technician to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, organizing, and maintaining office network infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable connectivity.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience in structured cabling and office network setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site surveys to assess office network and cabling requirements.
- Install structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A Ethernet cables.
- Perform cable routing through conduits, trunking, ceilings, and wall pathways.
- Terminate network cables on patch panels, keystone jacks, and faceplates.
- Install and configure network equipment, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Organize and label cables to ensure a clean, professional, and maintainable setup.
- Test and certify network connections to ensure performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot network and cabling issues and provide timely solutions.
- Upgrade and maintain existing office network systems.
- Ensure installations meet industry standards and safety requirements.
- Prepare installation reports and documentation.
- Provide basic user guidance and support to clients when required.
Requirements:
- Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Networking, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in structured cabling and office network installations.
- Strong understanding of LAN networking and cable management best practices.
- Ability to terminate and test Ethernet cables accurately.
- Familiarity with routers, switches, and wireless network setup.
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and layouts.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and neat workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
